-organise a safe physical environment
-create an environment of respect and understanding
-provide and maintain a purposeful working atmosphere

2015 Documentation

- Building on the  2014 Documentation, the year started with creating a treaty that linked back to the school values. The values are on the wall and DRIVE is used every day to praise positive behaviour and to address negative behaviour.

- The students were very proud of their new classroom in Term One and this has continued as they year has gone by. The students show respect towards how they use the environment and are able to manage themselves and take ownership over their own learning.

-The students are involved with daily prayers, star of the day and helping hands: jobs within the classroom.

-The students can read the timetable and are able understand the expectations we as teachers have of them.

2014 Documentation

- We started the year creating a treaty which everyone had a say. The classroom environment has been created on what the students and I wanted the class to look and feel like. Everyone has the right to his or her opinion and this is respected.

- The classroom is a safe and welcoming environment where students are physicaly, emotionally and socially safe. We draw on the Key competence of Self Management and use this as a way of students taking ownership of their actions.

- The students are given the chance to work with a buddy of their choice or sometimes work with a buddy that has been selected by random. This enables them to work through tasks togehter and manage their own learning as well helping other students to manage themselves.

-I  think it is important for the students to understand and know what their learning by setting goals, understanding the WALT/Success criteria.

- Put the decision back on them, the choices they make and the outcome of their choices. Praise and reward positive behaviour and put negative behaviour back onto the student.
