School Vision

2015 Documentation

- This year my syndicate has dipped our feet into changes in the form of furniture, writing workshops, one-to-one Ipad class, collaborative planning, online planning and student directed timetables. In terms of the school vision going to ULearn in Auckland at the end of October encouraged us to take a leap and explore the possible changes we could make in 2016.

-BYOD has been something we have wanted to bring into our school but  we have been unsure where to start. We have developed a Parent/User Agreement policy and have organised a Future Focus Evening where we will discuss 21st Century learning and BYOD at St Joseph's.  I have looked at other school's BYOD policies, visited other schools with BYOD environments and attended a number of workshops at ULearn that presented other schools BYOD journeys.

- I am committed to supporting BYOD at St Joseph's and will continue to build my knowledge and experience with the aim of improving my ability to deliver a program that encourages problem solvers, self-management and team-work.

Future Focus Evening in Week 7/Term 4 2016

- Reflecting on my 2014 goal, as a staff we created lessons that link directly to the PB4L matrix. I introduced the Focus on Monday at area prayers and then taught the lesson in the morning. We recapped over the lesson during the week.

- The staff gave out tokens at morning tea and lunch time representing our school values- DRIVE (Determination, Respect, Creativity, Love and Excellence). In Term 2 I had given out the least tokens in my syndicate, this showed me that I needed to make a consistent effort to give out more tokens and be more aware of students behaviour outside the classroom. I set myself a goal to double the amount of tokens i had previously given out. I achieved this by remembering to take my tokens out everytime I was on duty and target a certain value. I explained to the students every time I gave out a token to what behaviour I was praising and what value this linked to.

- PB4L: continue to support the school DRIVE and the teaching of this next year. Look at other models from schools that are further down the track with this and what it looks like in their school.
